What is the title of your idea?

Mobile Based Application for Medical Consultation (MobiCare).

Describe your idea in one sentence.

MobiCare is a smart phone based application that will enable users to contact and consult health workers of their choice and location.

How did you come up with the idea? Explain briefly how you identified the need or opportunity?

Most people do not have appropriate access to the right health workers for medical consultation. They do not know who they should consult, whether they have a serious problem that requires them to see a health worker, where and when they can find a health worker that they need for appropriate consultation or treatment. Also some people do not know how to locate the nearest health facilities with the health services they require. The situation worsens during emergency cases when one is rushed to a health facility that is not capable of providing the appropriate treatment. This leads to unnecessary delays and may also result into seeking medical advice from quarks or lead to self-medication.

What problem does your idea solve in the market?

Inappropriate access to the right health workers for medical consultation.

Who are the beneficiaries of your solution and how will they benefit?

Our solution targets clients (ie. pregnant mothers, caretakers,couples) with a need to contact a health worker for medical consultation, advice and appointment scheduling.

Why are you convinced your idea will solve the challenge or need?

MobiCare will facilitate appropriate access to the right health workers for physical consultation and assessment. It will also work to fill the knowledge gap of who to consult, and where to go for consultation. This will cut down on travel expenses and showing up in facilities where the right health workers may not be present thus making our idea more convenient and cost effective way.

What other initiatives like yours exist out there? How will you differentiate yourself?

They include; The Medical Concierge Group (TMCG) which offers access to a medical doctor through a call center.however, this initiative is limited to the central region (kampala mainly) and thus doesn’t meet the demands of people in the other regions of the country.

Our initiative will work for all people in all regions in the country who may need to consult a health worker.

What have you done up-to date to test your idea with potential users? What learnings do you have to share?

Currently, we are working on a prototype to demonstrate our idea and also get user feedback.

Please tell us about each founder and their roles on the team. How do you know your founders and how long have you worked together?

Blessing Davis – software developer
I am a computer engineering student at Mbarara university in my final year. i am responsible for developing the application. i have worked with my co-founders for two years.

Nuriat Nambogo – Business strategist
Nuriat is a research and grants development officer working with CAMTech Uganda. She is responsible for developing business strategies for the idea. I have known and worked with Nuriat for two years.

Emmanuel Kamuhire -Designer
Emmanuel is a computer engineer who has recently completed his bachelors degree at Mbarara University. He is responsible for developing appealing designs for the application.
I have known and worked with Emmanuel for two years.

Openja Moses – software developer
Moses is a student of computer science in his final year at Mbarara university. He works with Davis to develop the application. I have known and worked with Moses for close to one year.

Please describe each founder’s previous experience starting out a business or working in the area of sexual reproductive health? Or You can share anything impressive that each founder brings to the team.

Our founders are innovative, hardworking and self motivated individuals who have worked on a number of projects.
Nuriat has been working on a project called SmartNet for over two years. Emmanuel is working on the Vein Locator, Contraceptive Infant Finder (CIF) innovations. All these projects are currently incubated in the CAMTech co-creation lab.

Our team of founders brings an innovative, hardworking and focused experience to the rest of the members on the team.
